Camp Shape Up
. . . For Health and Happiness
Realizing a childhood dream of teaching, Cherie began leading creative movement and theater classes in the early 1980's
in Vermont. With an education in psychology and sociology, and an upbringing including psychodrama at the dining room
table, Cherie also wanted to help people
make healthy changes and feel better about themselves. Having struggled
for years with her own weight problems, smoking, low self-esteem and excessive worrying, she wanted to help others as she
figured out her own way through these tough issues. A position as Education Coordinator in a Santa Cruz hospital's
Community Education Program, led her to discover several helpful healing modalities that made a big difference in her life.

In 1992, Cherie began
Solutions For Success - Coaching For Personal and Professional Development. In addition to
being the Smoking-Cessation Instructor at another Monterey Bay area hospital, she led numerous classes including healthy
weight-loss programs based on inner healthy changes, not on restrictive short-term diets, as well as successfully worked with
numerous private clients on other challenging habit-change issues. One of her favorite programs was the peaceful Women's
Retreats that she held at a countryside bed and breakfast.

Many years later, Cherie moved to the foothills of Amador County and in 2006, reopened her coaching practice in Jackson
and Diamond Springs as
A Healthy Balance - Helping You Find a Better Way! It felt good to get back to helping people
quit smoking and make other healthy lifestyle changes. She began leading Women's Retreats again at her peaceful Pioneer
home, this time adding on teaching about using the Law of Attraction to one's benefit. She also sponsored a showing of THE
SECRET at a local coffee house in Pine Grove.

S
ince 1999, Cherie has also been helping people make changes so that they can be better dog parents and teachers, in her
dog training business, Our Furry Friends. After opening two local dog training centers in 2007 and 2008, her focus shifted
off of her
personal healthy lifestyles coaching business for awhile. The sense of community at both of the training centers -
one in Placerville and one in Pine Grove - brought her back to the desire to again offer programs to help people make

positive and healthy life-style changes
in a supportive atmosphere! Plus after an extremely difficult personal loss in
2006, Cherie
had put a great deal of weight back on. She finally got back to her own successful weight-loss program in
2009
and decided she again wanted to share it with others!

The dog training center in Pine Grove sits idle several days of the week, so after some deep cleaning and promotion, Camp
Shape Up o
pened in October of 2009. One of the Our Furry Friends Training programs is actually a cross-over program for
Camp Shape Up too!! It's
PAWS 4 Fitness, a fun exercise program for you and your dog using Canine Freestyle moves. All
of Cherie's passions are coming together in one place. She hopes you join her and
find your health and happiness!!
Hello my name is Sonya Castoe.  I have been Hoop Dancing for over a
year and I am very excited to start sharing my love of hooping with
others.  Hooping is unique in that you can incorporate your own style of
dance with the techniques you learn in class.  If you couldn't keep a hula
hoop up when you were a child don't worry!  In class we will be using
hula hoops made for adults.  Hooping is a way to get moving and
improve your health while having fun! Check out my
classes at Camp
Shape Up
